CBSE Grade 12 OSM System Sparks Evaluation Controversy in India

There has been great controversy surrounding the CBSE Grade 12 result in India after the launch of a new technology called On-Screen Marking (OSM), which involves the scanning of answer sheets into the computer for evaluation purposes by teachers. There are serious claims that there are glitches in the system, with many students reporting that the images of the scanned answer sheets were blurry and pages were even missing, but perhaps more shocking were claims of mismatch between physical and scanned copies in handwriting and answers.

The controversy has taken an added dimension owing to the security issues involved, as a hacker says that he accessed the master password in the online portal. Recently the NEET-UG exam was cancelled because of paper leaks and mass protests. In an admission of guilt, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan apologized to the students for the "discrepancies" and assured them of a glitch-free reevaluation.
